Altura Medical Associates was born from a longstanding vision: to create a comprehensive, patient-centered healthcare platform that delivers integrated care across the mental, physical, and emotional health spectrum. The group traces its origins to Dr. Aura Ardon, who founded a single outpatient psychiatric practice, in response to the fragmented and siloed nature of behavioral healthcare. This laid the foundation for what would become the Altura platform. In the years that followed, the organization’s vision was shaped by Dr. Ardon’s insights gained through work across a variety of clinical settings and leadership roles. It was in these environments that the future direction of Altura became clear: there were persistent gaps in behavioral healthcare—patients were often turned away or referred elsewhere based solely on age, diagnosis, or program limitations. Altura was created to address these challenges with a more inclusive, coordinated model of care.

Recognizing the need for inclusive, lifespan-spanning care, Dr. Ardon began laying the groundwork for a broader, more scalable solution to the gaps she had witnessed firsthand. With early support from her son and daughter-in-law, what began as a single psychiatric practice evolved into a platform capable of delivering care across the full spectrum of mental health needs and age groups. Over time, the model expanded to include wellness-focused services such as weight management and lifestyle interventions—reinforcing Altura’s commitment to a whole-person approach that integrates mental, emotional, and physical health.

In 2023, the practice reestablished its physical footprint, reopening for in-person care while continuing to support a growing telehealth base. This relaunch marked a pivotal moment in the evolution of the platform—introducing new service lines such as medical weight loss and interventional psychiatry, including Ketamine and Spravato treatments for individuals with treatment-resistant depression. These additions reflected Altura’s continued emphasis on innovation and evidence-based care, while setting the stage for broader expansion.
